Over the past few years we’ve seen some political crazies come out of the woodwork. Most of the rhetoric coming from the Tea Party is false, unfounded, misguided, and reactionary to the point of absurd. The sad part is, the participants mostly consist of the very same people that would benefit from the things they oppose.
The Tea Party emerged when the debate over health care reform began just a few years ago. At the time, there was talk of government funded universal health care as the goal. As a reaction, the big insurance companies started a campaign among their employees to frighten them into believing their jobs were at stake, i.e. “You’ll lose your job if the government passes Single Payer Universal Health Care!” A movement like the Tea Party does not become so influential so fast without big money backing from companies worried about their profit margins.
When the health care debate shifted away from Single Payer / Government funded to the complex Private Insurer gold rush it is now, the Tea Party should have disbanded, but it didn’t. Instead, it morphed into some sort of way for old people to blow off steam about a million different issues equivalent to “Hey you kids, get off my lawn!” Coming from the same mindset that despised “those damn hippies” that protested the Vietnam War, the new demonstrators ironically use the same methods of protest (signs, slogans, marches, righteous indignation, threats of revolution, etc.) but this time with an ultra-patriotic theme, the exact opposite of the Anti-War activists of yore.
An underlying racist opposition to a black President is the unspoken glue that binds the Tea Party together. Add blind allegiance to both Christianity and Patriotism and it’s the same dangerous mixture that brought forth the Nazi Party in Germany and the Communist witch hunts of Senator Joesph McCarthy.
“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
– Sinclair Lewis, “It Can’t Happen Here”.
As an artist, I can see the writing on the wall, and I feel the need to use whatever avenues are available to me to counter balance these forces. I DON’T have access to Fox News to express my views, or millions of dollars to “buy” an opinion that actually matters. Gay porn and satire is my only outlet, and although not the best venue, it’s all I have.
I present to you now, my satire of extreme patriotism, taken to the point of fetishism. In this scene, Dungeon Master Josh West has Kory Kong chained to the rafters with an American flag draped around his waist. As Josh rips the flag off menacingly and throws it to the floor, accusing Kory of being UN-patriotic, we see a blatant example of the powerful blaming the weak for a crime they didn’t commit, all in the name of God and Country. Naturally, what follows is accusations of, “What’s the matter, are you a Socialist? Are you a Communist?”, both words being the worst thing you could accuse someone of being in this media catch-phrase society.
Kory’s reaction to these accusations are of surprise, disbelief and concern for his safety; the same reactions that Progressives have with the Tea Party. While still in control, the patriotic zealot then pulls out a leather strap to beat the naked, bound, and submissive Kory while forcing him to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Though I don’t have a politically oriented analogy for the ending, I wanted to wrap it up with something shocking simply for the shock value. (Glenn Beck, I hope you’re watching!) The scene ends with Kory ejaculating on the American flag. (I will leave it to the scholars 20 years from now to analyze it.)
Perhaps my allegory went a bit too far for the horny guys viewing this site one-handed (and not reading the text…), but for the 4th of July, I just wanted to point out that our biggest national holiday means a lot of different things to different people.
Oh, and both guys have really big dicks.
